At Grandma’s No.1 Crackling, we’re more than just a snack company — we’re a proud family-owned and operated business based in Tokoroa, in the heart of the South Waikato.
The business was founded in 2017 by owners with a passion for making real, quality crackling. What started as a small operation has grown into a brand that people across New Zealand genuinely enjoy. Earlier this year, our family took over the reins — committed to honouring that original vision and building on the foundation they laid down.
From day one, the focus has been simple: create a product that tastes homemade, delivers real crunch, and never compromises on quality.
Being family-run means everything to us. It’s built on hard work, long hours, and a commitment to creating something we can proudly put our name on. We value honesty, consistency, and supporting local wherever possible.
Every batch is carefully prepared using quality ingredients and traditional-style cooking methods to achieve the perfect texture and flavour. We take pride in doing things properly, because we know our customers can taste the difference.
As a business born in small-town New Zealand, we’re proud of our roots and grateful for the support we continue to receive from customers, retailers, and communities across the country.
When you make food in your own backyard, you don't get to be casual about where it comes from. Every gram of pork and chicken skin in our bags is free-range and supplied from within New Zealand.
Our pork crackling is made exclusively from free-range New Zealand pork skin, sourced from a small group of trusted NZ suppliers we know by name. No imports. No compromises.
Our chicken crackling uses only free-range New Zealand chicken skin, supplied by a handful of partners who share our standards on animal welfare and quality.
